A syndrome is defined as a group of problems, similarly computer vision syndrome or digital eye strain is a set of problems which arise due to excessive use of computers, smartphones , tablets etc. If we are looking at the digital screen for an extended period of time( >2hrs) it usually leads to vision related problem .
The amount of muscle work of the eye musculature that is required in digital reading and writing is very high as compared to normal paper reading and writing. This happens because of the blue light which is emitted by the screens, the reflections and glares which happens on the screen, the viewing angles of the screen , your very own postures, environment lighting and minor eye issues if you have any.
Due to excessive screen time ,the focus with which we have to work leads to decreased blinking rate (normal blinking rate is 15blinks/min) ; this makes your eyes dry and red.
Let's Identify if you have Computer Vision Syndrome
Dry Eye or Red Eyes
Blurry Vision
Feel the need to rub the eyes every now and then
Itching in the eyes.

Follow 20-20-20 rule, that is look for 20 seconds at something 20 feet away every 20 minute.
Blink often ; it keeps the front of the eyes moist.
Keep good lighting in the room.
Use reading modes and light adjusting software.
Use anti glare or blue light glasses
Keep a distance of 40-75 cms from the screen and tilt the top of screen 15-20 degrees
Get proper eye check ups done.
Use eye drops after extensive screen time ( get it prescribed from your doctor)
